privacy & cookies

Who we are
SIGHCOMICS is a personal site based in the United Kingdom. For anything in this policy, you can reach us at imonlysighing@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
We try to keep this minimal. There's no account system and no marketing list.
- Anonymous analytics — pageviews and basic interaction events, only if you click Accept on the cookie banner. Lawful basis: your consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
- Contact form messages — if you submit the form on the About page, your name, email, and message are sent to our inbox so we can reply. Providing this information is optional; without it we can't reply to you. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in responding to you, and your consent in submitting the form.
Cookies & storage
The site uses a few cookies and equivalent browser storage. None of these identify you personally.
sighcomics:cookie-consent— remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics. Stored in localStorage. Strictly necessary.ph_*and__ph_opt_in_out_*— set by PostHog only after you accept. Used for anonymous analytics.
You can change your choice any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer.
Who else sees data
A handful of services act as data processors on our behalf. Each only receives the data needed for its job, and processes it under our instructions.
- PostHog (EU region) — analytics, only if you opted in.
- Resend — delivers contact-form emails to our inbox.
- Railway — hosts the site and database.
International transfers
Some of these processors operate outside the United Kingdom — primarily in the United States and the European Economic Area. Where data leaves the UK, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards under UK GDPR, including the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA), and Standard Contractual Clauses, depending on the provider.
IP addresses & server logs
When you visit the site, our hosting provider (Railway) briefly processes your IP address to deliver the page and protect against abuse. Our analytics provider (PostHog) is configured to discard client IP addresses after geographic enrichment, so they're not retained. We don't use IP addresses to identify individual visitors.
How long things stick around
- Analytics events: kept by PostHog for up to 12 months, then aggregated.
- Contact-form emails: kept in our inbox until we clear them out.
- Consent choice: until you clear your browser storage.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- see what data we have about you,
- correct anything that's wrong,
- delete it,
- restrict or object to how it's used,
- have it sent to you in a portable format.
Email imonlysighing@gmail.com and we'll handle it. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
You can withdraw your consent at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.
Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect or process their data. If you believe a child has submitted information through the contact form, please contact us and we'll delete it. We also don't use automated decision-making or profiling.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
